Tulsa Global Entrepreneurship Week begins Saturday
Source: Tulsa World, Okla.迷你倉Nov. 15--Tulsa Global Entrepreneurship Week begins Saturday and runs through Nov. 22, featuring more than 18 workshops and other events. The seventh annual TGEW -- the largest to date -- also includes entrepreneurship panels as well as networking, pitching and coaching opportunities. One new event this year, called "Under the Hood," will feature food truck entrepreneurs who will share their stories, successes and challenges. Participants also will get a chance to sample their food. This year's events -- hosted by entrepreneurs, business leaders and educators -- are open to anyone interested in small business or other forms of entrepreneurship."It's the biggest, not just in the number of events, but in the number of people producing the events," said Sean Griffin, TGEW chairman. "The diversity of organizations and groups that are stepping up and participating and supporting entrepreneurs is at an all-time high."I think that the community has awakened to the power of entrepreneurship to help not only create jobs but to inspire people to follow their own dreams and create their own career paths and make a difference for the community. We're seeing a lot more social entrepreneurship programs."Tulsa has emerged as a nationally recognized leader at fostering entrepreneurs, Griffin said.An official kickoff for the week's events will take place at 6 p.m. Monday at the Dust Bowl, 211 S. Elgin Ave., in downtown Tulsa."My sincere hope is that we actually start engaging a larger percentage of the general population to seriously consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path," Griffin said."The programs we have during TGEW are excellent opportunities for them to get their toes in the water, so to speak, to get a feel for what entrepreneurship means and connect with entrepreneur champions who are there to support them."We've never had as many entrepreneurial champions available, ready and passionate about seeing people start businesses."The Kauffman Foundation created Global Entrepreneurship Week, which is celebrated during November across six continents. All of the TGEW events are being coordinated by the City of Tulsa Economic Development Commission's Entrepreneurship Committee.Laurie Winslow 918-581-8466laurie.winslow@tulsaworld.comTulsa Global Entrepreneurship WeekSaturdayDream Start Entrepreneurship ConferenceTCC Center for Creativity, 910 S.
