'Was there a plan to dismember': Police investigate man's death

Source: The Star, Shelby, N.迷你倉C.Sept. 06--Updated 3:25 p.m.Two Shelby residents charged in connection with the death of a Lawndale man may have planned to dismember his body, authorities said Friday.Jesse Dean Hoppes, 26, and Simms Leigh Ottinger Wilson, 29, both of 1405-A Vermont St., made their first appearances in court Friday in connection with the death of Earl Guy Hall, a 24-year-old from Lawndale.Hall was found dead with head trauma early Thursday morning at the Vermont Street address, and Hoppes and Wilson were charged with his death, police said.It is still unclear how the death occurred, but Shelby Police Chief Jeff Ledford told The Star on Friday that Hall had a large laceration on his neck area when police found him."That's one of the things that we were looking for: was there a plan to dismember?" Ledford said.Ledford said police are still gathering evidence and conducting interviews to determine whether there were plans to dismember Hall's body.Hoppes and Wilson were acquainted with Hall, police previously said.'Information about the cause of death'Two guns were also recovered from the scene, according to Ledford."A lot of the information about the cause of death will come from the autopsy," Ledford said.A preliminary autopsy is expected to be finished in four to six weeks, he said."At this point, we're still interviewing people that are involved in the case," Ledford said. "So we're filling in a lot of gaps. The investigation is still going strong."Police previously said they discovered Hall's body at the Vermont Street home Thursday after getting an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip. Police said Hoppes had an outstanding warrant for a driving while license revoked charge.Police still seeking informationHoppes is in jail on no bond. He is charged with one count of murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.Wilson is charged with one count of accessory after the fact to a felon.She received a $200,000 bond Friday in the court hearing, a ccording to the Cle儲存eland County Sheriff's Office inmate log.Ledford said the police department welcomes information about any of the people involved in Hall's death.
