Suspect escapes Tampa police car, gets bit by K-9

Source: Tampa Tribune, Fla.迷你倉Aug. 23--TAMPA -- A man who escaped from a Tampa police officer's vehicle Friday morning was apprehended by a police K-9 who located the man and bit him, Tampa Police Department said.Tevin James Young was transported to Tampa General Hospital to be evaluated after the dog bit him.Young, 21, was wanted on drug charges. When police tried to arrest him at around 2:20 a.m. Friday in the area of North 19th Street and East Eighth Avenue in Ybor City, he became violent and fought back.One officer used a Taser, which slowed down Young., but he pulled the wires out, rendering it ineffective. He then tried to grab the Taser, police said.Officers wrestled him to the ground until backup arrived. Young was found in possession of a handgun, 98 grams of mushrooms, 29 grams of marijuana, .9 grams of methamphetamine, .3 grams of cocaine and other drugs, police said.Two Tampa police officers were treated at St. Joseph's Hospital for cuts they sustained in the violent struggle with Young, police said.Another officer arrived at the scene and drove Young to Orient Road Jail. En route to the jail,文件倉Young told the officer that he was feeling sick and overheated. The officer lowered the rear driver's side window.As the officer was driving, Young was able to free his left hand from the handcuffs, police said. When the police officer arrived at Orient Road Jail, Young put his hand out the window, unlocked the rear door and ran from the scene.Officers responded to the scene. A K-9 officer tracked Young's trail.
